Not your Average Brexit Article

1 Jul 2016

Today is the 1 week anniversary of when the news came in – Britain voted to leave the European Union.

For the majority of Business Leaders in the Professional Services market, this is not what we wanted to hear.

Over the last week (and for months before it), there has been a horrendous amount of media coverage surrounding Brexit and what this might mean for different industries and for different people in Britain and in Europe. Therefore, we are not going to bother doing the same.

Instead we would like to take this opportunity to create a sense of unity across the business and professional services landscape.

On the 24th of June, the employees of Jepson Holt received this email from our Chairman Phil Jepson, and I believe this transcends across the business community, so I am sharing this email with you now:

“This is not where I thought we would be today, although I did have some concerns.

We are heading into a period of uncertainty.

The markets that we operate in will change.

We have to take a positive attitude and approach to the situation because there is no other choice.

We have to achieve the 3 Rs:

  • Resilient
  • Relevant
  • Responsive

To paraphrase Winston Churchill this is not the end, it is not the beginning of the end, it is just the end of the beginning.

There is no “inevitable” here.

We are in this together. I hope we will stand together.”

We want to stand with you, our clients, and the whole legal market. We are not done fighting, nor are we admitting defeat. We are taking the high road. We are accepting Britain’s right to a democratic vote and we are going to push forward. We hope that you will join us.

In conclusion, to quote our Sales Director Richard Neve: “Positivity is key and opportunity is discovered not presented.”
